1,2-Pentanediol is a multifunctional and widely used cosmetic raw material. In addition to the moisturizing properties of diols, 1,2-pentanediol has antimicrobial and solubilizing properties. 1,2-Pentanediol also enhances the water resistance of sunscreen formulations. 1,2-Pentanediol also contributes to the appearance of emulsions when used in emulsion formulations and has a favorable skin feel.
